Live Event Painting

Before cameras there were artists. This is an old fashioned concept brought alive again in today’s era and is an excellent and unique form of entertainment that guests will love. I will paint a chosen scene at your event where you and your guests can watch it come to life. Perhaps you and your guests would like a go too! You will receive a completely bespoke piece of artwork which can be treasured for many years to come. Live painting is a unique and special way to artistically capture a memory of your event - only a small amount of artists currently offer this at the moment.

From weddings, birthdays, and christenings to corporate and fundraiser events - even proposals. Any event can have a scene painted live. Even shorter events are still possible as I will complete them in my studio.

I use watercolours and fine line pens so it dries quickly and gives a beautiful artistic finish and it is framed. Perhaps you may wish for an acrylic painting on canvas.

There are a few things to think about when choosing a scene, for instance, how long will people be at the scene? If it’s for a wedding ceremony then I would have to carry on at the reception using a reference photo. Who would you like included? It could be just a couple or as many as 7 figures - a likeness is created rather than photo realistic.

It would be ideal for me to have access to the scene space a couple of hours before so I can get the sketching done. It also means I can get the best set up where I can be seen but not in the way. I use traditional fine art equipment from a wooden drawing board to a glass jug, aesthetics make it! I dress to fit the occasion with my artist apron to protect my clothing.

The fee includes a time at your event and a day at the studio to finalise. If the event is shorter then the remaining hours are completed in house so no need to worry. I will aim to complete your piece within 3 weeks and ship by 1st class courier to your chosen address.

For venue requirements, I will need a space of 2 x 2 m to set everything up. I bring the following with me; art materials, drawing board, floor protection, seating, small table, and a parasol. I can complete a piece outside if the weather permits but would recommend having a back up scene in mind just in case. I do take photos so if a painting can no longer continue at its scene once started then I can continue else where. Before booking you should try to ensure these arrangements can be met with your venue. I will also call them out of courtesy.

In terms of travel, fees are inclusive up to 50 miles from Gosport (Isle of Wight simply adds the cost of a return car ferry ticket). 50 to 75 miles incurs an extra charge of 45p per mile and over 75 miles away will include overnight charges as well as mileage.

Portraits

A portrait is simply timeless. A piece of fine art that is uniquely yours, or a gift to be enjoyed for years to come. It can record a special moment, or celebrate the life of a loved one. Perhaps a pet too.

A commissioned portrait makes a truly unique and special gift for a loved one’s Birthday or Christmas present or to mark a special occasion.

A portrait of a family member or loved one can be a stunning addition to any home. These unique works of art can be brilliant talking points when displayed, it has a characteristic that photos would never achieve on their own.

I use Faber Castell graded graphite pencils as well as their black oil based polychromos pencil to create a depth that really makes the portrait pop!

Faceless Guest Portraits

Looking for a unique favour for your guests and entertainment wrapped in one package? How about having an artist to create those favours before your guests very eyes, capturing their exquisite outfits.

Guests can pose for a photo so they don’t need to stay still and watch as I sketch them out, apply vibrant colours, and finally using a fine liner to make those details pop! Illustrations take around 15 minutes to complete.
